Scan your medicine pack with the camera

Take a photo of the front and back of the pack. We read the registration number, barcode, batch and expiry, then check it for you.

Your photos stay on your phone. The first time, your phone downloads the reader (about 4 MB).

Tips for a good photo

  • Fill the screen with the pack and hold the phone straight.
  • Use daylight. Tilt the pack so the foil doesn't shine.
  • On the back, the small square barcode (DataMatrix) gives us the product code, batch and expiry in one go.
  • Bottles: turn them so the label is flat towards the camera.

Frequently asked questions

Which photos should I take?

One of the front of the pack (the name) and one of the back or side, where the registration number, batch and expiry date are printed. If the pack has a small square barcode, make sure it is sharp in one of the photos.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The text and barcodes are read on your phone. Only the words and numbers found are sent to us to run the check.

It read the wrong number. What do I do?

Correct it in the box before you press Check. Shiny foil and curved bottles are hard to read: hold the phone straight, fill the frame and use good light.

Does it cost anything?

Reading the photos is free. The check itself uses one of your free daily checks, or a point after that.
